A food website that reports trends such as the “most Googled recipe” and the “50 best potato recipes” also has intelligence on grocery stores.
The Daily Meal’s list of the best grocery stores in each state for 2018 is out. For the second year in a row, Ellwood Thompson’s Local Market in Richmond makes the list as the best grocery store in Virginia.
The ranking is not based on sales. Rather, The Daily Meal “scoured the internet for as much information as we could find, cross-referencing other best-of lists that have previously been written as well as reviews on Google, Yelp, Foursquare, and Facebook.”
Ellwood Thompson’s, located near Carytown, carries natural and organic foods, has an impressive fresh produce section, a juice bar and also offers prepared meals.
Founded in 1989, the 20,000-square-foot store is at 4. N. Thompson St.
Ellwood Thompson’s is “easily the best reviewed store in Richmond,” according to The Daily Meal, and “handily sweeps the title in Virginia.”
