The holidays mean something a little different for everyone. For many, it’s a time of celebration and a chance to bond with the family you were born into, or the family you chose. And if you’re like us, most of this familial connecting takes place over long meals in the dining room.
So before the next holiday rolls around, how about adding some captivating dining room decor elements to make those shared feasts all the more special?
We tracked down this week’s top five design trends from Instagram that are sure to bring enchanting vibes and ambiance upgrades to your dining room. Here are the looks you’ll want to steal before your next winter dinner party. (Just be warned: Your guests might never want to leave.)
1. Fairy-tale blues and whites
Creating a blue and white color scheme like this one from @taylorjohnsoninteriors is one of the easiest ways we can think of to bring some charming feels into your dining room.
“This combo won’t ever stop being in vogue,” says designer Doreen Amico-Sorell, of Sorell Interiors. “Blue has always been a popular color in home decor not only because of its aesthetic value but because of its cool and calming attributes. Paired with white, blue evokes a fresh, crisp feeling that can be used with virtually any style.”

2. Stoneware statement vase

“The visual texture of these vases is stunning, creating a rustic warmth and elegance that works in several looks,” says designer Dorene Lorenz. “These timeless accent pieces have a lot of varied color and texture in their layers of sooty color, all of which really grounds the space.”

3. Modern classic credenza
Have a heavy old dining set that’s looking a little too last-century? Modernize your space with a sleek credenza like this one via @altbau.zweiundzwanzig.
“The classic modern credenza, with its clean lines, offers style and elegance to any space,” says Amico-Sorell. “It also adds storage and a place to display treasured items. Finish off the vignette by adding a mirror or statement art above the credenza.”

4. Dreamy forest wallpaper
This enchanted forest wallpaper from @mowerymarsharchitects is one of the most captivating prints we’ve ever seen.
“Wallpaper has made a tremendous comeback,” says Amico-Sorell. “Large-motif patterns like the enchanted forest can be applied either as an accent wall or in the entire room. Either way, it’s a very dramatic look that certainly makes a statement.”

5. Family gallery wall
Now is not only the time to spend time with our tribe, it’s also the best time of year to remember the ones who came before us. And this family gallery wall from @settingforfour is a great way to bring beautiful heritage—and engaging style—into your dining room.
“There’s no place like home, and highlighting your family is a strong reminder of your roots,” says Lorenz. “Consistency of framing is key in this look—there’s no wrong choice. Just make sure what you chose shows intention.”
